This pet bed is soft fleece and has a nice bolster around the sides. It does not have much cushion or padding on the bottom, but could be used on top of carpeting or for occasional use in crates, carriers, and vehicles. We use ours in the carpeted back area of our KIA Soul as a comfortable place for Max to ride.
In the house, it’s in a corner, on top of a thick camping mattress for whoever wants to occupy it. For older pets, especially if they have joint problems or arthritis, get an orthopedic bed.
The cat and Max occasionally lounge on it, but not as their regular sleeping place. Max prefers the orthopedic pet bed, except in hot weather, when only the cool bathroom tile will do. The cat, of course, prefers the people bed, which is strategically better as a jumping off spot during the day, and a place to get more attention at night.
We’ve washed the Quiet Time pet bed at intervals. I vacuum it first on a low setting to extract hair that sticks easily to the fleece and throw it in our front-loading washer by itself with a packet of OxyClean. Tumble-dried on a low setting, it comes out fluffy and clean. We’ve not had shedding problems with the fleece as some customers have reported, but our bed is a couple years old.
This pet bed is great for use as a soft bolstered liner for a crate or in a vehicle. It’s available in a neutral fleece color, cinnamon plush fur, and gray plush fur, and seven sizes. Consider getting a larger size than you think you’ll need to allow your dog to stretch out and change positions easily. We used the 42″ by 26″ size for a 50-pound dog, and it was about right. I wouldn’t recommend it as a regular bed on hard floors or non-padded carpet without another pad underneath. It’s not for arthritic dogs.
Cleo loved the bed and chose it as her favorite place to sleep for a long time. When she became arthritic in her last years, we put a thick foam pad under it, and eventually replaced it with an orthopedic bed. Now its main use is in the car or as a casual landing spot. For these reasons, I’m giving it 3 stars, even though we’ve had good use out of it.
